"The Cracked Sky"
The constitutional disposition of longevity. Symbolic use of time passing,
using the primordial earth in the foreground by showing the structure of a
volcanic type of fissure to a very peaceful contemporary skyline. Between
the two, the tortoise, which is itself a symbol of longevity. The dry
conditions portrayed in the middle ground is also symbolic of the time of drought. To make the
meaning of the painting less obvious I used a title which described the
sky when viewed obliquely. Oil
